Physical / Occupational Therapy (OT)

What is Occupational Therapy (OT) ?

Occupational Therapy (OT)  Is an allied health profession that involves the therapeutic use of everyday activities, or occupations, to treat the physical, mental, developmental, and emotional ailments that impact a person’s ability to perform day-to-day tasks. One of the main differences between OT and other healthcare professions, is the focus on client-centered treatments that address the whole person (physical, mental, emotional). An Occupational Therapist will help you take a step back, and look at what makes up your life and your daily routine, to see where changes can be made to help you function at your very best. Things like pain, balance problems, high stress, fatigue, and decreased mobility could be keeping you from functioning at your best. Your OT can address these deficits and more, helping you to feel independent, powerful, and improve your overall quality of life!

“Occupational therapy is the only profession that helps people across the lifespan to do the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of daily activities (occupations). Occupational therapy practitioners enable people of all ages to live life to its fullest by helping them promote health, and prevent—or live better with—injury, illness, or disability.” -AOTA American Occupational Therapy Association
